A wartime cigarette card from Wills, the makers of Capstan, Woodbine, Star and Goldflake tabacco products. This comes from their ‘Air Raid Precautions” set, and explains how civilians should properly remove their gasmasks. The caption on the back of the card reads:

The Civilian Resporator - How to remove it.

The picture shows the RIGHT way to take off a civilian respirator. This should be done by slipping the head harness forward from the back of the head. It is important the respirator should be taken off in this way. The WRONG way of to take it off is by taking hold of the metal box containing the filters and pulling the face piece off over the chin. By this method there is a danger of bending the transparent window. If this window is cracked, the respirator is useless.

This is along the Tissington Trail in the Derbyshire Peak District, a cycling trail following the former railway line between Buxton and Ashbourne. I have it on good authority that the trail makes for a very pleasant day out (unless it is raining and you forget your lunch and lose your mobile and fall off your bicycle and get into a huge row with your cycling partner) AND it not too strenuous, not strenuous at all!! It has very gentle gradients, so you can pedal madly along.

Fortunately, I had my camera with me today as I sat down to read in the grass by this little patch of woods.

I love monarch butterflies because they arrive in such colorfully abundant numbers, they’re one of the first signs of the oncoming fall, and because of their incredible migration pattern.

I managed to photograph this one sipping away at this flower (some type of purple aster?) before it fluttered away.

TDD: Please step into the confessional. What book do you secretly hate, but are afraid to admit to other teachers because it's part of canon?

My vote: I really did/do not enjoy Death of a Salesman. At all.
